Something that’s been stressing us out:
Our Donut Holes are FINALLY back in stock! And we’re telling you not just because they’ll sell out (trust us they will), but because if we’re being completely honest, bringing these back was a pain in our ops team’s a$$ for SO many reasons. Creating a product takes so much more than just writing a recipe, sticking it in the oven and hoping it works, so we wanted to give you a little insight into what it takes to bring a product from idea to reality:
Finding a Facility - We loved the facility where our first donut babies were born, but demand became too high and we had to find another option, which took quite some time and a lot of trial/error. We had to find someone that had baking capabilities as well as understood the sanitary processes needed to maintain a gluten-free production line. Oh, and actually be able to produce the thousands of donut holes we were asking for 🙄 We actually got super lucky and our new co-manufacturer reached out to us! They’re a super talented baking company and we're so excited to grow this line with them.
Trialing - Every new DEUX product requires numerous rounds of trialing. Our first round of donuts came back tasting like coconuts, so we had to run test after test, tweaking the volume of the coconut oil to allow for a perfectly thick glaze without an overwhelming coconut flavor. That’s when we realized we were testing with the wrong spec of coconut oil (smh). We kept testing with “unrefined coconut oil” when we really needed “refined coconut oil” because it has a milder coconut flavor. Who knew??? Here’s a photo from our very first batch:
(We all have an awkward phase)
Production - Production is SO tedious and a lot of it is more manual than you think! The ingredients are measured and mixed by real people, baked in individual molds, popped out by hand, cooled, and dropped into a tub of melted glaze. From here, the finished glazed donut is frozen and then packed into our pouches and ready to go!
Post-Production - The process doesn’t end once the donuts are produced… there’s SO much more that goes into marketing the donuts once they’re here, but we’ll save that for next time. 😉
Big big shoutout to Hailey and Kristina because these little guys are so worth it.
P.S. Might have something new in the works 👀
Something that made us LOL:
If you haven’t seen on our Instagram already, we have our category review next month for Whole Foods and we’re on a mission to get our products into all stores NATIONWIDE. Since we’re only sold in 4 states currently, we’ve been asking customers to call Whole Foods and request our product in their local stores. We’ve had quite a few people say they’ve called more than once, which is AMAZING, but this email we got literally had us cackling:
Anyway, the number is 1-844-WFM-TALK… and the rest of the feedback we’ve received about the Whole Foods customer service line is that they’re really nice. So don’t be scared. 😂
Something else that made us LOL:

Why only 4 stars tho…
Hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into DEUXtopia. Til next time. 🤝
